Search with IE7
ICT-Freak was blogging today about changing the default Search Engine in Internet Explorer 7. The only problem I have with his post is that it’s not suitable for people who don’t know what they’re doing. So I digged up my old (Dutch) post from my own website (Helmer.hzNET) and just added the search engines ICT-Freak mentioned on his website. Just click on a Search Engine to add it.

This download consists of a virtual hard disk (VHD), along with a walkthrough guide. The guide gives a hands-on tour of the product, along with useful information for administrators and other IT professionals. You can use the guide and VHD to demonstrate many of the key features of Microsoft Search Server 2008. The VHD includes all of the files and software you need in order to complete the walkthrough. They will provide you with a basic understanding of the configuration, administration, and end-user search capabilities in Microsoft® Search Server 2008 Express edition.
System Requirements
- Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003; Windows Vista; Windows XP
A virtualization product that supports the VHD format is required to use this virtual machine. Microsoft Virtual PC or Microsoft Virtual Server are provided for free and can be used with these VHD based virtual machines. Please refer to the Virtual Server 2005 R2 System requirements page here.
In addition to the System Requirements for the virtualization product, you will need additional disk and memory resources for running the virtual machine. This VHD is pre-configured to use approximately 10GB of hard disk space and approximately 1024MB of memory.

Just six MCP's in the Netherlands?!

Georgeo Pulikkathara wrote on his blog there are only six MCPs in the Netherlands. Off course he’s not entirely right, but the six (or now even seven) are the only ones that have their address mentioned on their MCP Profile set to public….
So all you Dutch MCP’s : Set up your MCP Profile and set the Address to Public then we can show the world how many MCPs we really have!!
This is the link to my profile : https://mcp.support.microsoft.com/profile/helmer.
If you’re not sure if your profile is visible, please use the MCP Advanced Searchengine I was talking about just a few days ago!
Tevens is bijbehorende website gelanceerd.
Hieronder een stukje uit het persbericht :
Live Search for Windows Mobile with voice input. The updated Live Search for Windows Mobile® 5.0 and 6.0 will be available for download for free on Tuesday, Oct. 16, and now includes voice input (beta version), gas prices, and hours of operation for businesses. The service can also use Global Positioning System (GPS) data on GPS-enabled phones to provide location-aware local search for customers.
Yeah, that’s right. Instead of having to type out all those business listings and locations with your thumbs on your tiny phone keypads, now you can simply enter text into Live Search on your phone using speech recognition technologies developed right here at Microsoft!!
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then a movie must be worth, what? A million words? OK … Maybe not. But … At any rate, you should check out this video (~2 minutes) I just uploaded of Live Search for Windows Mobile devices in all it’s glory — Now with Speech Recognition!!
You could also try out this longer video (~8 minutes) if you want to see even more of the cool new features…
If you have a Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile 6 phone, download the application, and start talking your way to finding businesses and addresses.
