UPDATE : MCP: The 71-693 is available…what’s with the beta code?

NOTE : If you are unable to register for the exam, please also leave a comment at this MS Learning Blog Post so they will know who as unable to register :-)

Update (11:00am CET) : Unable to register for this exam in the following countries : Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, Hungary, Switzerland and Germany. Probably some other European countries you’re unable to register for this exam right now.

UPDATE 2 (13:06 CET) : (thanks to Bas Steeloper) Prometric can’t take any action before 14:00 CET (that’s when the Prometric HQ will be available), but it will probably take until 20:00 CET before registration can take place for the European countries named above.

UPDATE 3 : The Beta code is working!!! Be quick and register for the 71-693 before it’s too late!

At 12:00am (EST) the 71-693 became available for registration. And also this time there will be a limited number of seats. With the last exam (71-659) it took about 8 hours before all the seats were filled. What do you think, will this exam be filled quicker?

Too bad this time the exam code for the exam isn’t working in Europe, or at least in the Netherlands! Last few times there have been some issues that had something to do with some dudes leaking the promotional codes on the internet. I asked some friends over at MS Learning, but the told me there is only one beta code available, so it should work.

The strange thing is…over at Canada there was at least somebody who was able to register for the exam, with the appropriate beta code, but in Europe nobody succeeded!

Your comment of "but in Europe nobody succeeded! " is untrue. I booked it @ 5am in the UK no problem when it went live. Had to refresh a few times until it appeared but booked no problem.
  • :-) If you read my blogpost again, and start with the 'UPDATE' parts you should see that the UK isn't in the list of countries with troubles. The UK was from the beginning on the list of WORKING countries....the reason I posted the 'but in Europe nobody succeeded' was written at the moment that that EVERYBODY I spoke (from Belgium, Switserland, Hungary, Germany) wasn't able to register. I'm really happy that you were able to register at 5am.....the rest of Europe also was awake at 6AM (5Am UK time) and we were awake for nothing :-)

Thanks for the comment anyway...let's hope we all pass this one :)
  • And it also works in the Netherlands! :-)
  • I was able to register also !!!!
  • anon
    .ee OK/registered, have fun ;)
  • Wim Lamot
    WORKS (belgium), whooooot
  • It works! Wait, IT WORKS!

(Better than a long post... But it turns out I wasn't the only one who noticed. :) Anyway, off to studying for the Exchange 2010 exam on Wednesday now.)

I was able to register, 1 minute ago. Take your chance! (Quickly :-))
  • Hendrik Andresen
    It works!!!!! Here in Germany
  • Works here too. Switzerland.
  • Just phoned Prometric again. Escalation is started from Europe, but the escalation seems to be only an email message to Prometric in the United States. They will start to wake up (come into the office) around 2PM (14:00 CET) and start with a cup of coffee, talk about the weekend and then read the mails about this problem. And then start to fix it. This will probably take a few hours to investigate and fix so registration must be possible around 8PM (20:00 CET). I asked them what kind of escalation process this is, but they are bound by the rules which are created in the States.
There is nothing we can do but wait....
  • Let's hope it won't take so long, because the beta code is already posted on the web. I don't think there will be any seats left when we can register for the exam :(
  • If this is true I hope that MSL will keep their promise and ban them who posted the codes.

But I still cannot register :-(

I successfully registered via phone for 71-693 in australia.
  • and you do live in Australia?
  • Mark
    Hi Helmer,

    Yes I reside in Australia.
  • JB
I was able to register (12:30 AM EST time) in France :)
  • Probably France is on the 'good' list also... :)
  • Yes France is on the good list. Tried registering there, but the drive was to far ;-)
Was looking if it is was possible to register in one country and then change it to another, but that is not possible :-(
  • Pieter
Still not working in the Netherlands...
  • Pieter
According to Prometric due to an error the countries affected (Netherlands, Belgium, France, Poland to name a few) have not been included in the list of available countries for this promo code. It's been escalated and should be fixed somewhere this afternoon. Looks like we'll not be doing this exam since it's very likely the seats will be filled up by then !
  • Congrats Prometric, great job again as always...
  • Sebastiaan van Putten
This looks like the problem, I can succesfully register for an exam in the UK.
  • And are you able to REschedule it to a Dutch location (if you live in the Netherlands of course)?
  • Sebastiaan van Putten
No it is not possible, even when I fill in Change Test Country/State, the reschedule option presents me only test centers in the UK, unfortunately.
    And yes, I'm dutch :-)
  • Hm....and your also unable to reschedule it by phone?
  • Sebastiaan van Putten
Surprisingly I was answered within 2 minutes (I've not chosen to be forwarded to the English language option).
Reschudeling is not possible between different countries, the only option is: cancel the exam, an register a new one.
  • Sebastiaan van Putten
Waiting on the phone trying to reschedule..
  • Prepare to be on hold for at least 30 minutes (that's the time i'm waiting right now)...
  • Hmm....will be fixed 'somewhere this afternoon'...OMG how hard can it be to add the European countries to the list! When we have to wait for the afternoon the exam is probably all FILLED UP :(
  • Sebastiaan van Putten
I have had contact with prometric (phone), and heard registration is not possible until 12 PM, they said the problem is in the states and only people from belgium, germany and the netherlands should have problems with registering
  • Just spend 25 minutes listening to music on the Prometric line. Waiting for a Customer Service Representative… No answer. I think there are a lot of disgruntled people calling, or no employee’s….

For a couple countries registration is NOT possible. The person I spoke with told me that at least the following countries are not working: Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Hungary. They escalated this, but we have to wait until later this afternoon :-( Hope you can do something for us. The seats will have filled up when we get a change….

They tried registering me in a different country, but no countries in the neighborhood are currently accepting :-(
  • Switzerland ain't working either.
  • hm....you can logon to the website? It isn't accepting my credentials anymore...so I'm calling Prometric again..pff..it's busy on the phone..still on hold :(
  • I am able to logon to the website, but still not found...

I am stubborn, I'll keep trying
  • hm...and what about the rest of Europe? Right now I'm even unable to logon to the Prometric website :(
  • Rene van Stipriaan
It's 08:03 and the promotion code still doesn't validate.
  • I know :) I'm on the phone with Prometric....
  • I am also on the phone with... Listening to some easy listning music....
The whole of europe must call Amsterdam... So a lot of people.
  • Rene van Stipriaan
Let's hope they can resolve this.
  • If someone in Canada registered, are there multiple registration codes maybe??

This time the warning worked. There are no codes listed in the wild so no way to check....
  • I just spoke to Krista Wall (MS Learning) and she told me there is only ONE code for the whole world.
  • I was hoping this was the case, and our code just needed activation....

Isn't prometric online somewhere arround the world??
  • Hm..i'm not sure...in just 1 hour they're available in the Netherlands :-)
  • So your will phone them also? Think they get a lot of calls today
  • Yeah I certainly will! I'm not sure if you are able to book the exam by phone..there are still NO slots available with the promo code.
  • Doesn't Krista have an escalation contact with prometric... They messed up again....
  • She already e-mailed them, but she doesn't have a 'red phone' connection with them..
  • Maybe she will get one after this...
  • Let's hope so! :)
  • Nope...there is nothing wrong with the clock. I spoke to some guy in Canada and he WAS able to register...
  • Otto Horvath
It seems prometric has problems with the clock again...
  • Otto Horvath
    Same here in Hungary. :(
  • Wim Lamot
Same for me, promo code not found message (belgium)
