Earlier today Microsoft announced via the Beta Exams blog that the registration for the 71-686 and the 71-685 are available! To register for one (or both) of the exams, please read the information below.
71-686 : PRO : Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop
You are invited to take beta exam 71-686: PRO: Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Administrator. If you pass the beta exam, the exam credit will be added to your transcript and you will not need to take the exam in its released form. The 71-xxx identifier is used for registering for beta versions of MCP exams, when the exam is released in its final form the 70-xxx identifier is used for registration.
By participating in beta exams, you have the opportunity to provide the Microsoft Certification program with feedback about exam content, which is integral to development of exams in their released version. We depend on the contributions of experienced IT professionals and developers as we continually improve exam content and maintain the value of Microsoft certifications.71-686: PRO: Windows 7, Enterprise Desktop Support Technician counts as credit towards the following certification(s).

Too bad (the exams are probably very populair!) the registration pages at Prometric are overloaded. You are able to select the exam.

But as soon as you’ve selected the exam location you receive a page with the error you can see below.
UPDATE : After a lot of retries I was able to register for both the exams!

Helmer, weet jij hoe het hier in Europa met dat HDI requirement zit voor 70-685? Moeten we dat hier ook doem of kunnen we het zinnigere ITIL er voor doen?
Toch een “upgrade” examen. De 70-682 – Upgrading to Windows 7 MCITP Enterprise Desktop Support Technician.
Nu nog hopen dat ze een leuke kortingsactie in het leven gaan roepen, dan is het nog (financieel) te overzien.
Niks helaas, er zijn codes bij aangemaakt, ik heb zojuist 686 kunnen registreren, die was eerder vandaag al gesloten.
Klopt…’k heb net even contact gehad met iemand van Microsoft Learning en die bevestigd inderdaad dat er nieuwe slots vrijgegeven zijn voor de examens. Jammer genoeg wil ze mij niet vertellen vertellen hoeveel slots er bij zijn gekomen of hoeveel plaatsen er nu totaal zijn

Right…I just had contact with someone of Microsoft Learning and that person confirmed that they have opened up new slots for the exams. Too bad she can’t tell me how many new slots are opened or what the total number of slots is
Ik denk niet zo veel, of het examen is bijzonder populair, want heb het gedurende de dag enkele malen geprobeerd (vanaf heden ochtend vroeg), zonder succes.
Ik heb mijn hoop nu gevestigd op een speciale actie voor XP of Vista gecertificeerden voor een “upgrade”-examen naar windows 7. Want 140 euro per examen die, t.o.v. Windows Vista examens, niet veel extra toevoegd, heb ik er niet voor over.
Wat ik in mijn vorige reactie al aangaf : het is onduidelijk hoeveel extra slots ze beschikbaar hebben gesteld.
Ik verwacht niet dat ze voor de client een speciaal ‘upgrade’ examen in het leven gaan roepen
@Robert, een goeie vraag.
Ik heb hem, weet niet meer precies waar, op een MS blog ook voorbij zien komen. Het antwoord daarop is een verwijzing naar de MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Administrator 7. Hierin zit geen HDI component.
Maar ben wel benieuwd hoet het gaat uitpakken. Ik neem aan dat MS het andere MCITP traject ook buiten de US op de markt zal willen zetten.
